By Air

The nearest airport to St Andrews is Dundee airport, which is a couple of kilometres from Dundee Rail station with an approximately 30 minute bus ride to St Andrews. Unfortunately the only flights to ths airport are from Amsterdam and London Stanstead, so travel to Edinburgh Airport is often more practical.

The simplest way to get from Edinburgh Airport to St Andrews is via the regular tram or bus service to the centre of Edinburgh (abour 30 mins), where you can catch a train to Leuchars (about 1 hour), and finally a bus trip from the train station to St Andrews itself (about 10 mins).

By Train

The nearest train station is Leuchars, which is on the East Coast mainline, and is served by a sleeper train from London. The station is about 8 km from St Andrews, however the 99 and 92 bus services run approximately every 10 minutes during the day providing the link from the train station to the University and the town.

The bus services are run by Stagecoach East Scotland and details of their routes and timetables can he found here: www.stagecoachbus.com/plan-a-journey

By Car

Once in St Andrews, finding parking can often be tricky, however there is a moderately-sized free car park behind the Physics and astronomy building which usually has spaces if arriving before approximately 9:30 am, or after the end of the work day. The location of the car park, called Petherham bridge is shown in the map below.
